Soapbox Time Again…… Sorry

I was embarrassed and ashamed by the raucous and rude behavior of some members of Congress.  The lack of respect shown to the president of the United States was rude and obnoxious.

I don’t care what one’s political views, ideology or opinions are.  This was the president speaking and, particularly, the "gentleman" from Soust Carolina was disgusting.
These members of Congress are representing "we the people" – and to act like like rowdy folks at a football game is appalling.  I ,for one,  did not like all the cheering, whistling and juvenile behavior from both sides of the aisle.  Grow up and dissent, or applaud with a smidgeon of decorum and respect.

South Carolina (and for that matter, North Carolina too) elected officials have not distinguished themselves recently.  And rumor has it that most of the loonies live in California. Huh??

Now, about those protesters in DC?  Let me get this straight. During the Bush administration, Republicans took the position that you were a patriot only if you denounce Obama and his policies.  Protesters are now heroes.

Where were all these angry protesters over the last eight years?  We went from a budget surplus to the biggest deficit in U.S. history, and our economy was on the verge of collapse, and yet all of these protesters were silent.  Now, when the president wants to help the unemployed and uninsured, the conservatives become ‘angry’.  It seems as if the only way to annoy a conservative is to care about those other than yourself.

Let me simplify whole situation:  Replublicans don’t like Democratic politictians:  Republicans DO like Republician politicians.  These protests were a testament to waning Republican political influence.  Now they are forced to take to the streets like – Gasp – Democrats.

One last thing.

Republicans??

* You want fiscal responsibilty?  Only when it involves war or impeachment, apparently.

* You don’t want government involved in your healthcare?  You have complete faith in big business?  Only those who can afford it deserve to be healthy?

When you’re calmed down, come meet the rest of the nation to work together to make this country great again.

Whew!!!!  I’m done!!!  (stowing the soapbox away!! )  BTW, I am an Independpent!!  I just wanted to post my thoughts and start a dialogue here.

I’ll lighten up tomorrow, promise!

OMG! Did you see his daily speech today!? He loves to hear the audience clap and cheer him that he has now stooped to acting like a high school pep rally coach! He is the one making a fool of himself, not ‘we the people’!

You know Bob…I think many of us have been shaking our heads. No matter what side of the fence we stand. Is it just me or are there many others who his disappointed in the inability to get back to the basics and have some common sense? Both sides have people who can’t communicate like rational adults. These people are highly educated too…What’s with these child like temper tantrums. See…I’m shaking my head again as I type this…Have a nice evening. I think I will just find some peace and quiet.

I don’t know Bob, I think that it’s important to forget the spin and try to listen what people are really saying. I feel that the policies being offered now for health care have too many holes as far as how to pay for things and the shortage of doctors that such a system would cause and it also seems that there are many problems with socialized medicine that few want to notice such as the tragedies that have occured with our men and women in the armed forces that are in essence on socialized medicine…seeing the conditions of the militiary hospitals and treatment of our veterans makes me wonder if anyone would be willing to betreated like that…and don’t even get me started about the native Americans that have socialized medicine…I know many heer and they say you don’t want to get sick at the end of the month…there’s no money for you at that point so you’re out of luck. Talk of great medicine for everyone sounds good but reality is if you don’t have money or enough doctors what you’re really talking about is no health care for everyone that’s of any quality. I wish that the slogans and spin would go away and we could see someone actually sit down and work on some true reform. I don’t believe that the current administration is any more serious about this than the ones of the past. All I see is finger pointing and ridicule or those that don’t agree. No, I’m not a racist because I have concerns and questions and no, anyone who doesn’t agree with me isn’t a traitor or whatever other nasty name we can think of. Our country is torn and doesn’t know where to go or what to do or who to believe in. I’m not a rightwing radical I’m just an average guy that’s "bitterly clinging to his God and his gun" who is concerned about the direction things are going. I refuse to agree with anything before reading the fine print…too bad congress seems to be fine with that.

I loved the President talking this morning to the union people. He’s gotten us this far from Bush’s crap and I trust him to get fair health care. Ya me who can’t afford health insurance and now I have a pre existing condition an NO help from nobody! I digress, Obama has a plan that will pay for itself and not the tax payers. And Bush should be brought up on charges. What happened to all that? The Republicans can sure complain BUT do they have solutions? I haven’t heard any yet. I am a proud Democrat BTW. Bring back the unions to give us representation in the work place. Oops, sorry I got go’in there didn’t I? I’ll lighten up too.

I’m totally and completely on your soap box. And don’t get me started on the words "Socialized" or "Social Government" or "Social Agenda"… cause if we go there then we’ve gotta talk about how communistic we’ve become as a country…It seems to me that there’s too much "It’s all about me" and not enough thinking about other people. There are those that would rather be ignorant and uneducated and follow a leader rather than thinking about common man and others problems. Enlightenment and seeing others as humans are a good start…And I totally disagree with the first comment. I think that there are plenty of the American making fools of themselves for not doing the proper research. Stating an opinion about what someone does or doesn’t love and likening the President of the United States to a pep rally coach, rather than looking at the issues, reading up on the issues and learning what the different choices are is just as foolish. I don’t mean any disrespect at all… I just feel that it’s the pot calling the kettle black.

  6. Ann says:

    Waiting for tomorrow . . .

  7. john says:

Read a story from the Kaiser faily foundation report on health insurance. According to this report they put out, the average family spends over $13,000.00 per year for health insurance policies. Premiumns have been rising at 131% per year. I have lots of questions…why so high inflation/costs, then how do we get under control?

  8. Kat says:

You know what I tire of? I’m tired of those who disagree with Obama being accused of being racist. That’s insulting. Like we haven’t thought out as to why we disagree, we are just acting on redneck impulse. And?I tire of this man acting like he is our Dad who knows best so "you kids shutup and let me make the decisions".Argh. Don’t even get me started.I’m not a Bush supporter. I’m not a Republican. But I’m NOT an Obama supporter. In my opinion. He’s an inexperienced Politician who wears a God chip on his shoulder and thinks his opinion is the best regardless of what the American people think.
