Surprise, Surprise!

Yes!  Two unexpected surprises at the Serious household today.  Both of the ‘Good’ variety.

 

*  Remember ‘Dad’??  The screw-up handyman?  For those of you who don’t, he was the guy we hired five months ago to do some work for us (erect a new patio, fill in the old ground-level spa with concrete, repair a block wall and build a tool shed).  Everything turned out fine except he way overordered on the sand and concrete and the patio roof leaked!  I’ve been trying for over a month to get him back out here to repair the roof but kept hearing excuses such as;  I’m moving… I’ve had a few personal problems… I hurt my foot, etc.  Well, this morning at 7:30 he calls and tells me he will be here in 30 minutes to repair the roof.  He was and he did!!  Without his son!!  Apparently he had to FIRE his son!  One too many naps on the job I guess.  So I’m waiting for the next rain to see how good of a job he did.  And to think, all it took was for me to mention the California Contractors License Board!

 

*  The second surprise today was also in the form of a phone call.  It was my DENTIST!!!  On his day off!  From his home!  Checking to see how I was feeling!  Huh??  A doctor actually taking the time to check on a patient??  Unbeleivable!  That was a REALLY big surprise!  We talked for 20 minutes, him asking me about bleeding, pain, etc, and giving me a few tips  on how to help the gums to heal faster.  Then he gave me his cell number, just in case.  He also confirmed that he did indeed give me an extra two root canals, bone grafts and implants because in his words, "while I was already in there…".  WOW!!  I checked and that ‘extra’ work comes to about $4000!  Just my luck!  I finally find a great dentist and now I won’t need one anymore! lol

 

I’m just hoping that surprises come in three’s.
